During this keynote, teachers, administrators and teachers in training will be swept away by mesmerizing character portrayals, breathtaking a cappella music, and powerful stories of people whose lives were dramatically altered by a teacher. Teachers walk away deeply energized and motivated at a root level by the best teaching practices they hear about and witness during this keynote presentation.
The best teaching practices depicted in this keynote are in the form of behaviors and paradigms. When teachers use these behaviors and paradigms, they initiate parts
of a continuous death and rebirth cycle within themselves, within their students and within their classrooms. This continuous cycle is central to the permanent awakening process that is Rebekah’s mission and includes: death of outdated behaviors, paradigms, identities, and relationships, discovery of the teachers’ and students’ authentic voice, gifts, identities, passions and purposes, and a refocusing and re-designing of the classroom environment, as well as teacher and student mindsets and behaviors based on these discoveries.
As a result of this continuous cycle, teachers become courageously accountable for creating classrooms that are not simp]y spaces for downloading information or teaching federal or state mandated materials, but they become spaces where critical thinking, ingenuity, creativity, vitality, compassion, teamwork, awe, wonder, connection and authentic productivity are continuously awakened, increased and maintained on more and more of a permanent basis.
